Palma (Rotarynews).- The International Contest of Piano Rotaract-Rotary 2010 will envolve this year on May 2010, in the Sala Mozart of Palma Auditorium, and it will distribute more than 6.000 Euros in prizes. This year, it could participate in the category A pianists of up to 28 years old, opposite to the 27 years old of the past edition.  The young pianists will have the possibility of lodging free at the ” Hotel Isla Mallorca”, of of Majorc. The quota of inscription is 50 Euros and the term is of inscription ends on April 5.

If pianists wish to play the scores of mallorquin compositors before the competition, the organization of the contest has recommended the access to the scores of Majorcan authors ” Tristes Souvenirs ” (Antoni Torrandell) or ” Visions Tristes - Part V ‘ Musica que ningú no escolta (Antoni Matheu) ‘ ” for the category A, and  “Nadal Trist” (Joan Maria Thomàs) o “Météores” (Jaume Mas Porcel para la categoría B.

These pieces will be able to be interpreted during the final of the contest, though they will not be obligatory. Nevertheless, in the final the competitors will have to interpret some piece of a Spanish author and, in whole, not to get longer any more than 30 minutes. Previously, during the classificatory phase, they will have had to show his endowments during 15 minutes with the prelude and fugue of Clave Well tempered Piano J.S Bach’s; a study to choosing between Chopin, Listz, Rachmaninov, Scriabin and any piece, of the 20th century.  After the classification phase and before acceding to the final, the competitors will have to interpret in 40 minutes an entire sonata of Beethoven, Mozart or Haydn, and any piece writed since Romanticism.

In case of the category B, which is limited to competitors by a maximum age of 16 years old, the only test will contemplate the obligatiry piece to interpret J.S. Bach’s to two voices; the first tempus of a classic sonata, and a romantic piece or of one writed in the 20th century, beside having option to interpret someone of the Majorcan authors selected for this category. In this case, the competitors will have a maximum of 20 minutes.
